Yuri Brodsky
Yuri Brodsky, born in 1946, is a researcher of the history of
Solovki, an expert of the International Likhachev Fund, and the
consultant of Solovki-tour Company.
Yuri Brodsky's articles have been published in Russia, Germany,
Italy, the Netherlands, Finl and,
Poland and Japan. He is the author of the first exhibition in the
USSR devoted to the camps, which was organized by Solovki Museum
Reserve. The author of several personal photo exhibitions on this
subject: "The Solovki Camp in the Monastery" (Rimini,
Milan, 1998. 2003), "The Paradoxes of Solovki" (Warsaw,
1998), "The New Man (Dresden, 1999), "The Radiant Land"
(Otranto- Italy, Riga, 2004).
He was also the research consultant for ten historical films, including
"The Solovki Power" (Mosfilm, 1998), "The Academy
of Homicide" (TV-I, Poland, 1994), "Stalin and Hitler.
The Pathology of Power" (TV-IV, Great Britain, 1999), "The
Footprint of the Red SLON" (NTV, 1999), "The White Square
on White Background" (La Sept ARTE, France, 2000), "In
Front of the Closed Door" (TV Culture, 2001).
Yuri Brodsky's book on Solovki was first published in Italian under
the title "Solovki. Le isole del martiro" by La Casa di
Matriona in Milan in 1998, and in Russian, by ROSSPEN in 2002. This
book, containing 550 pages and 700 illustrations, was granted the
award of Irina Alberti International Fund, and was acknowledged
as "The Best Book for 2003" by Russia's Publishers Association.
